Muslim youths protest in Zamfara

HUNDREDS of youths besieged the major streets in Gusau, the capital of Zamfara State on Tuesday, to condemn the recent United States of America sponsored film against Prophet Muhammad (SAW).As early as 7.00 a.m. the youths, holding placards with different inscriptions like 'We say No to USA!,' 'On Islam we stand!,' 'We are ready to die for our prophet!,'etc stormed the Bello Barau roundabout and went straight to Government House where the leader of the protesters, Musa Ahmed Gusau, told the Nigerian Tribune that they were staging the protest to condemn the blasphemous film shot against the prophet.He said 'as Muslims, we consider the film as an act of provocation against the Muslim community,' adding that, we need to express our anger against the sponsors of the film.Gusau affirmed that, 'we cannot be left behind because our state was the first to champion the implementation of sharia in the country.'According to him, the protesters will marched through the streets in an orderly manner, saying we are not going to disrupt any vehicular moment or burnt down structures as it occurred in some middle 'east countries.From the Government House the protesters went straight to the palace of the emir of Gusau where they expressed their anger and called on the various Islamic organizations in the state to hold a special prayer session come this Friday.
