ANJET Re-organises, Dreams Viable Tourism Industry

THE Association of Nigerian Journalists and Writers of Tourism (ANJET) has reconvened after a long absence from the tourism scene with a commitment to bring the vast wealth of the experiences of its members to bear on the industry and ensure that the cause of the Nigeria tourism industry is given the attention it desired across the country.In a statement released by the body for travel and tourism journalists in Nigeria after its meeting in Lagos, the second for the month of September, the body urged its members to close ranks and work together for the good of the tourism industry as the and avoid any politicking that would affect its becoming a united body.It therefore, resolved to build a stronger body that would earn the respect of the industry and be a reference point. Also, the body resolved among others to contribute its best to the building of a viable tourism industry by ensuring that it's uphold the tenets of journalism profession in its reportage by drawing attention to issues affecting the industry.The body also pledged to interface with all the relevant associations and professionals in the industry in its drive to give a stronger voice to the industry. It would also resumes its monthly roundtable discourse on issues related to the industry, visit destinations across the country and engage state governors, tourism boards and committees as well as ministries, parastatals and other government agencies on working to develop the industry.As a first step to announcing its presence again on the scene, the body is planning a series of courtesy calls on some of the tourism associations and practitioners while also deliberating on a formal re - launch of the body, investiture of its patrons and officers as well as the first roundtable session for the year.
