Overcoming Battles Against Foundational Strongholds (II)

Published by Guardian on Sun, 23 Sep 2012

WE all are products of our foundations. Many of the things we are going through today, and for which we need deliverance, are the result of faulty foundations.A woman who could not get pregnant visited a witch doctor in search of a solution. He told her that he could solve her problem but the price she had to pay was that her first daughter would never get married. The woman accepted and eventually had children. Years later, her first daughter could not get married. No matter how hard she tried, she was always getting disappointed. Her problem was as a result of the agreement her mother made with the witch doctor before she was born. There might have been some agreement, covenant, oath or promise made or taken on your behalf by your ancestors of which you are unaware. That could be standing against you, right now. You have to get aggressive and break all such agreements and oaths by the fire of God and claim the power of redemption that is the blood of Jesus. On His death and at Calvary, Jesus made Himself a curse so that you and I could live. He has redeemed us from every curse. He blotted out every ordinance standing against us and nailed everything to the Cross. Most of the battles we confront are spiritual and the person responsible for the problem you are going through might have been long dead. We need to do as Gideon and burn down the altar of our fathers that is working against our lives. In Judges 6: 25, the Lord instructed Gideon to tear down the altar of Baal that his father had constructed, cut down the wooden image beside it and use the wood to build a fire to sacrifice a bull to the Lord.Gideon had a colourful destiny, but he could not move forward with his life because of his faulty foundation; God had to take care of his foundation first. In the same way, for us to attain the fullness of God's blessings upon our lives, we must deal with our foundations. This is not to say that everyone with faulty foundations will not make progress.Even with faulty foundations, you might be able to attain great heights. But there would inevitably come a time when you would suddenly be struck, with no discernible reason as to why your life is taking a turn for the worse. Foundational strongholds are not physical structures but are spiritual and belong to the world of darkness. Because we are not fighting against humans, we need the weapons of God to withstand the attacks of the enemy. In Ephesians 6:12-13 and 2 Corinthians 10:3-6, the Bible clearly tells us that our battles are mainly spiritual and that we should 'not war according to the flesh'. If we want to win the war, therefore, we cannot use carnal means. If we are obedient to the word of God, and rely on Him to fight the battle, then every situation, every imagination, whatever it is that the enemy is using to tie us down, will eventually yield to our commands.Pastor Seyi Ogunorunyinka, General Overseer, The Promised Land Ministries, Solution Ground, Surulere, Lagos, pastorseyiogunorunyinka@gmail.com
