Air Nigeria workers petition CBN over N35.5bn loan

The myriad of challenges confronting Air Nigeria seem to have increased with a petition written by the entire workers of the airline and sent to the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to unravel the disappearance of the N35.5 billion aviation intervention fund given to the carrier a couple of years ago to strengthen its operations.But a member of the management of the airline had described the petition as baseless and mischievous, saying the issue had been looked into by relevant authorities.According to the source, most of the petition writers, who claimed to be workers of the airline had secured jobs with other companies hence, they were no longer qualified to be called staff of Air Nigeria.The chairman of the National Association of Aircraft Pilots and Engineers (NAAPE), Air Nigeria branch, Roland Ahmed, in the petition on behalf of the workers, said the body respectfully wishes to seek the intervention of the governor of the country's apex bank and inquisition in a N35.5billion facility drawn by the carrier.
