Soccerfest League begins with new trophy, logo

THE season five of Soccerfest Champions League started yesterday and will run till November 18 at the main bowl of the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos.During the recent unveiling of the championship trophy, which was donated by Zenith Sports Limited, as well as the logo, at the Soccerfest Secretariat in Surulere, the co-ordinator of Soccerfest, Adeolu Adeyemo, said that all was set for the league season.'We are declaring this league open with a new logo and trophy donated by Zenith Sports Limited, a sports equipment company based in Nigeria and Europe, as we continue to have our target at the grassroots as well as our focus on youth development in Nigeria,' he said.'While Soccerfest's mission centers on being strategically positioned for grassroots soccer development and empowerment through a united force, our mission remains the unity of the body of Christ.'Benefits for this year's championship include the winner-takes-all brand new trophy and medals, cash prize for the winner, first runner-up and second runner-up, gift items for all discovered talented players and match trial trip to Ghana, South Africa and other African countries.Also present at the unveiling were the Secretary-General of the Referees Association of Lagos, Lukeman Shonibare, the board chairman, David Ahove, and Zenith Sports' representative, Theophilus Madubuko.Shonibare assured of proper officiating by referees, adding that the rules of the game would be fully adhered to, while Ahove assured of adequate security at the event.
