There are very few things that bring me more joy than putting beers in a cooler, burgers on the grill, and inviting some friends over for a night of indulgence. Yet with those joys comes a price: At the end of the night, you have to clean up. And while every dinner party ends with a need to wash dishes and clean the tables, after the barbecue, you have to clean the grill, and it can be quite an endeavor.Enter: the Grillbot. This product is essentially a Roomba for your grill, a robot designed for the sole purpose of refreshing your grilling surface so you dont have to. It is a niche purchase, but as a person that would grill every night if he had the time, I can see the value here. So I took the product home over the weekend to try it out.Our family grill was a gift to me for my 16th birthday. Instead of a car, I got a grill. To this day, it remains the best birthday present I have ever received. I did my best to take care of it, but cleaning it was always a struggle. I often found that the tools specifically designed to do the job would only last one or two cookouts before needing to be replaced. When I left for college and my grilling became more sporadic, I stopped cleaning the grill altogether, choosing instead to fire the heat up as high as I could every time I returned home to burn away as much nastiness as I could before I began cooking. So, after about five years without a proper cleaning and intermediate usage, this was the challenge the Grillbot was up against:To be honest, I thought it might be an unfair fight. This product was designed to clean grills, not the mistakes of grill masters from literally half a decade ago. But I wanted to give the Grillbot a chance to truly prove itself. I charged its battery, set it to a 30 minute cycle as recommended for first-time usage, and put it to work. The bristles started rotating and I could hear the Grillbot bounce around from corner to corner of the grill, making noises reminiscent of the Willy Wonka factory. I was a bit concerned, but I let the process run its course. It is safe to say that I was thoroughly impressed with the final result. Ive had times where I spent 15 minutes scrubbing away in futility at my grill, never was I able to get it as clear as it now sits today. While I still recognize this as a niche purchase, I will say that I am now thoroughly convinced that anyone whois willing to consider investing $100-$130 in a device to clean their grill will not be disappointed with what they get out of it. Ifyou make regular use of your grill and have been looking for a simpler way to give it the care and attention it needs to keep it clean and running long term, this deviceis a solid purchase. You can pick up a Grillbot for your grill at AHAlife or Amazonfor around $100-$130, depending on your color preference.READ THIS:The 25 best kitchen gadgets you can buy for under $25SEE ALSO:10 must-have travel tech accessoriesDON'T MISS:This is the one smart kitchen device die-hard grillers need in their arsenalJoin the conversation about this story
