Again, court upholds Wada's victory

THE Federal High Court sitting in Lokoja, on Monday, upheld the victory of Governor Idris Wada in the December 3, 2011 governorship election in Kogi State.The court had struck out a suit filed by the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) and its governorship candidate in the election, Chief James Ocholi and others against Wada.The plaintiffs had dragged the governor, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), governorship candidate of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), Prince Abubakar Audu, his All Nigeria People's Party (ANPP) counterpart, Elder Ubolo Okpanachi and others to court, to argue that the process that brought Wada into office as governor was unconstitutional, null and void.In his 50-page judgment, Justice Inyang Ekwo said the plantiffs had failed to provide enough evidence to proof that the process that brought Governor Wada into office was faulty.Meanwhile, Governor Wada, in his reaction to the judgment, described his successes at various court cases as victory for democracy and rule of law.Governor Wada said it was time to pursue the transformation agenda for the development of the state.
