Published by Guardian on Tue, 25 Sep 2012

ORGANISER of the Copa Lagos Beach Soccer Championship, Kinetic Sports Management, yesterday revealed that world football powerhouse, Argentina, would be among the countries represented at the competition slated for December 14 to 16 in Lagos.Alongside Brazil,Argentinais one of only two South American nations to have appeared at all five FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup finals held since the inaugural edition in 2005.The Sand Eagles overcame South American opposition in a thrilling finale at last year's Copa Lagos to claim a shock win and lift the Cup. Argentina will be looking to stake its claim as South America's finest.La Albiceleste, as the team is affectionately known, possesses an array of talent such as Cesar Leguizamon, Luciano Franceschini and De Ezeyza. They will definitely pose a threat to the Sand Eagles' attempt to retain the Copa Lagos crown.Commenting on Argentina's participation in Copa Lagos 2012, Kinetic Sports Chief executive Officer, Samson Adamu, said: 'Argentina are such a prestigious team in world sports; it is an honour to be able to welcome them to Lagos.'They always play great attacking soccer. This shows that Nigeria is able to attract the best sporting teams in the world.'The tournament, which boasts FCMB as one of its sponsors, is likely to attract even more coverage with the confirmation of such high profile team. With Argentina confirmed, fans now know two of the four teams that will be participating in the championship, but speculation is increasing over the remaining two places for Copa Lagos 2012.
