THE Chairman of the Nigeria Women League Board Chief (Mrs) Dilichukwu Onyedinma has advised the National U-17 women's team (Flamingoes) to ensure that they score more goals as they meet the host country Azerbaijan today in Lankaran.According to her, the team should avoid being overconfident as they engage the host that lost their first match by 5-0 to Colombia, and any act of individual playing but should play more collectively, thereby excelling collectively also " I commend your efforts in the last match against Canada, especially your ability to come back almost immediately to equalize the lone goal you conceeded in the second half of the game. But I implored you to device means of scoring most of the goal scoring opportunities that come your way. This is so because the success of any match is determined by the number of goals scored and not how well an individual player played".The NFF Executive Committee member assured the team that Nigerians are solidly behind them in prayers, believing that they have all it takes not only to win today's match, but to go ahead to become the first African's women's team to win a FIFA organized competition.Also, the Chairman explained the rationale behind the postponement of Nigeria Women League, Super six tournament that was expected to commence this week, saying that the need to harmonize the League table necessitated to that " there was a need to harmonize the League results, so a committee has been inaugurated to do that, and they would submit their report in one week, and fixed an acceptable date for the Super six. This is for the interest of the League, and to avoid any protest whatsoever because we want every team to be happy at the end of the day".She thanked all stakeholders in the League for their understanding, and assured them of the commitment of her Board to reposition the Women League in Nigeria, so that more players that would continue to do the country proud in various international competitions would be discovered.
