South West hoteliers to partner Oyo govt on security

Published by Tribune on Wed, 26 Sep 2012

THE Hoteliers' Association of Nigeria, South-West zone, has resolved to pay courtesy visits to the governors of the states making up the association in the zone. This decision was one of the several others reached by the association at its recent meeting, which took place at the Havana Motel Ltd, Ikere-Ekiti, Ekiti State.According to the protem president of the association, Chief Jerome Adoroh, who addressed the press at the end of the meeting, the association deemed it fit to embark on the visits in view of the fact that it has become imperative to partner the state governments, particularly on security among other issues.Adoroh, who is the Chief Executive Officer of Gerado Group of Hotels, Ibadan, added that apart from this, the association occupies a vital position in the development of the states because of the viability of the hospitality business as part of tourism, which the country and the South West states are striving to improve as a means of generating income for the development in the country. He stated that the association feels strongly about security as the spate of criminal activities and all other forms of insecurity should bother all well-meaning Nigerians, hence the desire of the association to partner the state governments in this regard. He added that the association in the zone is still at infancy, but that it was their determination to build it to an enviable status which the people would be proud of.Earlier in his welcome address, the host, Chief (Dr) Jackson Kayode Ayeni, said it was his pleasure hosting the hoteliers and that it was his belief that the association would continue to grow from strength to strength. He praised the protem president for his indefatigable and an outstanding drive in the formation of the South West forum. He also commended the support of the chairman of the Osun State chapter of the Hoteliers' Association, Chief Ayo Fadipe in the formation of the association, saying the support he gave the protem president was very vital in its formation. He also mentioned the efforts of the Lagos chapter led by Aare Tola Odunuga, Ogun, led by Prince Femi Egbodofo and others, who contributed to the formation and growth of the association.Lagos State chapter will host the next meeting next month.
