INEC, OAU, Alao-Akala, Oyinlola, others congratulate DicksonMORE congratulatory messages have been pouring in for Mr Edward Dickson on his recent appointment as the new Managing Director and Editor-In-Chief of African Newspapers of Nigeria (ANN) Plc, publishers of the Tribune titles.The latest of such messages came from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), authorities of the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile Ife; former governor of Oyo State, Chief Adebayo Alao-Akala and the management of Conoil Plc.INEC, in a message signed by the chief press secretary to the chairman of the commission, Mr Kayode Idowu, described Dickson's appointment as 'a fitting recognition of a sterling career earned through industry and proven competence.'A letter from OAU, signed by its Vice Chancellor, Professor Bamitale Omole, said the university saw Dickson's promotion coming, as the new MD/EIC had demonstrated uncommon journalistic vigour.Expressing his felicitation in his letter, Chief Alao-Akala, who lauded the brilliance and dedication to duty of Dickson, hoped that he would continue with the ideals of truth and non-partisanship for which the newspaper is known over the years.A former governor of Osun State, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, in a similar letter, enjoined the new MD/EIC to take his appointment as a call to higher duties, total dedication and commitment to the cause of his employers.Conoil, in a letter by its Head, Corporate Communications, Mr Biodun Azeez, said Dickson's elevation represented an important milestone in his career, while it also bore testimony of his leadership and managerial acumen.Appointment will rekindle Awoism flames - BabatopeFORMER Minister of Transport, Chief Ebenezer Babatope, has lauded the appointment of Mr Edward Dick-son as the acting Managing Director and Editor-in-Chief (MD/EIC), Afrian Newspapers of Nigeria (ANN) Plc, publisher of Tribune titles, saying that the appointment would rekindle the flames of Awoism in all the titles.In a congratulatory message to the new Tribune helsman on Tuesday, Chief Babatope, also a former director of organi-sation of the defunct Unity Party of Nigeria (UPN), founded by the sage,Chief Obafemi Awolowo, said he was overwhelmed when he heard about the appointment in London.According to him, 'you deserve and merit the appointment.
