Agbede commends Lagos task force on environment

THE Chairman of the Lagos State Council of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Alhaji Tajudeen Agbede, has commended the Chairman of the Lagos State Environmental and Special Offences Enforcement Unit, Mr Bayo Sulaimon, for his efforts at clearing social miscreants from major highways in the state.The task force, led by Sulaimon, had last weekend, arrested some miscreants using the name of NURTW to collect money from commercial drivers on major highway in the state.The acction of the task force, according to Agbede, was commendable as colleting money on the highways negated the idea of the new traffic law."On our own, the state council, under my leadership, had embarked on series of enlightenment campaigns on the new traffic law.We moved round all the local government areas in the state. We have not stopped educating our members."He said he had told members to restict their operations to the motor parks and leave the highways to allow for free flow of traffic.He assured that the state council would continue to support the state government to ensure that members of the union comply with the traffic laws.
