Kwara lawmakers seek rehabilitation of Ilesha-Baruba road

The Kwara State House of Assembly has appealed to the Federal Government and the Federal Road Maintenance Agency (FERMA) to begin the rehabilitation of Ilesha/Baruba Okuta road to fast track vehicular movement and better economic prosperity in the area.Speaking during an inspection of the road by House Committee on Energy, Works and Transport, following a motion of urgent public importance raised by a member representing Ilesha Gwanara Constituency, Hon Suleiman Sunaboro, on the present situation of the road, the Chairman of the Committee, Hon, Mashood Bakare, said that the section of the road already handed over to the Federal Government was now filled with potholes while some section of the road had failed, thereby hindering free flow of traffic.The lawmaker also enjoined FERMA to construct drainage at Subayo to tackle erosion menace in the area, adding that the consultant handling Kosubosu/Chikanda section should come up with a new design of culvert at Gure, saying that the culvert had collapsed.He also urged the State Ministry of Works to fast track the reconstruction of the culvert.The State Ministry of Works and Transport was also directed to review the Bill of Engineering, Maintenance and Evaluation on Ilesha/Gwanara/OkutaRoad for government's prompt intervention on the road.
