Uduaghan mourns monarch

GOVERNOR Emmanuel Uduaghan of Delta State, has commiserated with the Agbon royal family and the people of Agbon kingdom over the transition of their traditional ruler, Ogurime Rime, Chamberlain Oyibocha Orovwuje.In a condolence message sent to the Otota of Agbon kingdom, Chief Efe Akpofure (SAN), the governor said the passing away of the royal father was a great and painful loss.'The passing away of Papa at this moment is no doubt a great loss that is particularly painful because this is the time his advice and counsel is needed most by all of us. He was a foremost patriot and nationalist who promoted peaceful co-existence among all groups', he stated.He said that the late Ovie who was the longest reigning monarch in Urhoboland, ascended the throne at the age of 23years, adding: 'it is worthy to note that he was a detribalized Nigerian who will always be remembered for his outspoken and forthright disposition'.Uduaghan recalled that the late royal father, was a member of the Western House of Chiefs; a board member of the Nigerian Coal Corporation, Enugu; pioneer member of the Mid-Western House of Chiefs; chairman, Bendel State Hospital Management Board; director, Bendel Glass Factory, Ughelli; member, Traditional Rulers of Oil Mineral Producing Communities of Nigeria (TROMPCON), and the immediate past Chairman of the Delta State Traditional Rulers Council.
