I've also recently madeplans to visit my brother in Colorado and spend a long weekend in Chicago with friends. For all of this semi-impromptu travel, I decided I also needed a better duffel bag than the one I've been using since college. So I picked up the stylish weekender from Everlanepictured here. It's my full-time job to find and research products, so I've naturally become picky about what brand's products I like, and what ones I don't. Everlane falls firmly in the former camp.I've already talked at length about why I like Everlane. To reiterate, though,Everlane isn't your traditional clothing retailer.Unlike the J.Crews and Banana Republics of the industry, high clothing markups are nonexistent at Everlane; instead, the company promotes transparency. On its website, the retailer breaks down how much it coststo make its clothing and accessories (labor, materials, transporting the apparel, and duties). It compares its prices with those of traditional retailers. The Dipped Weekender I'm recommending, for instance, goes for $115 at Everlane, and Everlane claims traditional retailers would sell itfor $220.A bit more about the bag:For starters, it just looks premium. Heading to Penn Stationon the Q trainlast Friday, I had two people one woman, one manask where I got it, because each was searching for a new duffel bag for the summer and liked mine a lot.The bag's cotton-twill body is spacious enough for a three- or four-day weekend's worth of stuff. It's also, crucially, water-resistant, capable of protecting your stuff from wet grass, dirty floors, and sudden summer showers. And it's full-length leather strapsrest comfortably on my shoulders. (My only gripe is that I wish it came with a crossover shoulder strap, too.) A $115 weekender won't win everyone over, but if you value style, comfort, and durability, as I do,this will be a practical travel companion for future trips.Everlane's Dipped Weekender duffel bag retails for $115 and comes in two colors, all black or a gray and denim mix.SEE ALSO:We tested what might be one of the best hoodies out thereDON'T MISS:People are so excited about this wallet that it's become the biggest one in Kickstarter historyJoin the conversation about this story
