Why leaders fight to sit tight ' Jonathan

Fear of the unknown is the major reason many Nigerian political leaders struggle to remain in power, President Goodluck Jonathan said yesterday.Addressing a gathering comprising investors and global political players in New York, Jonathan said his administration will complete its electoral reforms to ensure that only those elected by the people hold office.According to him 'I was ready to loose the election if Nigerians did not want me. If I was ready to be disgraced out of office to sanitise the system, that is to tell you I am ready to sanitise the system to bring about investments in our country.'On his part, former British Prime Minister, Tony Blair, who was at the meeting told the gathering to disregard Nigerian opposition parties, saying their views doesn't represent majority of the people in the country.{loadposition user30}He urged Jonathan to go ahead with his reform programme, saying 'My plea is to stick with it, support the President and the ministers in making these changes. My plea to Nigerians is: Don't be deterred by the voices that say they are representing the majority of the public but often are actually representing the minority or vested interests.'The meeting was attended by members of the Africa Business Roundtable, investors Nigerians in Diaspora and other politicians including former United States Secretary of State, Condoleezza Rice.
