Reachout Nigeria Table Tennis Ends Today

The fourth edition of the Reachout Nigeria Table Tennis Championship organised by Christ Embassy, Uyo, will come to an end today.The week-long competition had in attendance men's singles number one seed, Seun Ajetunmobi of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corp (NSCDC), seventh-seeded Gbenga Tony of Union Maritime, 11th seed, Kazeem Adeniyi of the NSCDC and Sola Oyetayo of the NSCDC, who is seeded fourth.The competition also had former junior international, Ojo Onaolapo, who is ranked third, Kayode Adedeji of NSCDC, surprise package, Jide Omotayo of Lagos and Kazeem Makanjuola also of NSCDC.The women's category had number one seed, Edem Offiom of Cross River State, unseeded Ezekiel Udofia, also of Cross River, Edet Bassy Effiom and Alimat Hussein of NSCDC, Cecilia Otu of Cross River, Fatimo Kazeem of the Nigeria Police, Fatimo Bello of Lagos and Janet Friday of Cross River.The competition for the top prize was stiff with the players getting applause for their good displays throughout the competition.Chairman of the Nigeria Table Tennis Umpires and Referees Association, John Peter commended the players for putting in their best and praised Christ Embassy for putting the competition together.Peter said the RON Table Tennis initiative was the best thing happening to Nigerian table tennis at a crucial time in the history of the game. He said the effort would bring back the glory days when Nigeria ruled the continent.He added that the competition has produced champions and extolled the host and presiding pastor, Emeka Nnabuko, for his commitment and passion for table tennis, which was in a deplorable state before RON came to resuscitate it.
