Ogun to clamp down on illegal schools

As part of its effortsto sanitise theeducation system, the Ogun State government is to clamp down on illegal private nursery and primary schools operating in the state.The Public Relations Officer of the state Ministry of Education, Mr Kayode Oduyebo, made the announcement in Abeokuta in a statement issued to newsmen.He said the government would also prosecute owners of such schools who had failed to revalidate their status with the ministry.The spokesman quoted Mr Olusegun Oduyebo, the Commissioner for Education, as saying that the move became necessary to ensure qualitative education standard in the state.The commissioner told parents and guardians to be cautious in enrolling their children and wards in unregistered schools to avoid embarrassment.He urged them to check out the list of private schools approved by the government on the website of the ministry or in its zonal offices in the 20 local government areas of the state.
