UNIBEN worried about erosion

THE authorities of the University of Benin (UNIBEN) yesterday expressed concern over the ravaging effect of the gully erosion gradually submerging a vast area of the institution.The erosion is already threatening the lives and property of staff and students as well as residents of host neigbouring communities of the institution.Expressing concern on the effect of the gully erosion if not checked shortly after leading journalists around affected areas including parts of the staff quarters, the university's Public Relations Officer (PRO), Mr. Harris Osareren, said that if the gully erosion menace was not given attention urgently by the Federal Government, the institution could be forced to relocate from its Ugbowo campus.He appealed to the Federal Government and other relevant authorities to assist the institution to find a lasting solution to the problem.
