Lebanon picks Copa Lagos 2012 ticket

LEBANON, or The Cedars, as its beach soccer team is also known, has been confirmed as the third team to participate in the second edition of Copa Lagos Beach Soccer Championship slated to begin at the Eko Atlantic on December 14.The Cedars, who become the first Middle Eastern team to participate in the championship, is an up and coming team in the world of beach soccer. But it is famed for its exciting approach to the game and has featured in many thrilling encounters.It displayed its abilities most recently at the Asian Beach Games in June this year, where it finished fourth. Despite finishing fourth, Lebanon had the tournament's top scorer in its ranks.Haitham Fattal, who finished with 11 goals, took the tourney by storm with his deadly finishing. He is someone the Sand Eagles will need to keep quiet at this year's Copa Lagos.The tourney, which has FCMB as one of its sponsors, is beginning to take shape, with three of the four teams confirmed (Nigeria, Argentina and Lebanon). The identity of the final team remains a mystery, but it is expected to come from Europe.Organisers are keeping the final team a close guarded secret and an announcement is due imminently. Commenting on Lebanon's inclusion in Copa Lagos 2012, Kinetic Sports' boss, Samson Adamu, said: 'We wanted to invite Lebanon because it has been training and performing very well this year.'We believe fans of Copa Lagos will enjoy watching Lebanon play, as it is an exciting team. We also wanted to acknowledge the Lebanese community in Nigeria by giving them an opportunity to watch their team.
