Taraba deputy gov impeached

Taraba Statedeputy governor,Alhaji Sani Abubakar Danladi, has been impeached by the state House of Assembly for gross misconduct.This followed a motion by the assembly's majority leader, Honourable Charles Maijankai, during an urgent matters of public importance shortly after the assembly received the report of the investigative committee that accused the deputy governor of misconduct.The speaker, Honourable Istifanus Haruna Gbana, who received the report by the committee, led by its chairman, Mr Nasir Dangari, started proceedings, having recorded the support of 20 members out of 24.Shortly after the proceedings commenced, the clerk, Mr Ismila Ukwen Tentason, who read the committee's report, urged the speaker to proceed for the day's business.The speaker, thereafter, urged members to move the motion to commence the impeachment proper.With the resolution of 20 members at the sitting as well as their individual contributions supporting the impeachment move, the assembly resolved to announce the impeachment of the deputy governor with immediate effect.Consequently, the speaker directed the clerk of the assembly to write and communicate the resolution to the executive arm of government, the police, State Security Service (SSS) and other relevant agencies in the state.Allegations levelled against the impeached deputy governor include the siting of MDG ICT centre and motorised borehole in his school, Yagai Academy, the diversion of solar energy from the state's street light to the school as well as inability to properly discharge his functions and allegedly using his office to acquire a large expanse of land in the state capital to the detriment of the general public.
