THE management of Coscharis Motors has unveiled an ultra-modern Ford facility located in Lekki, Lagos State.Speaking at the unveiling ceremony, the president of Coscharis Group, Mr. Cosmos Maduka, said with the commissioning of the Ford outlet the company has commenced the journey into the future in Nigeria.Maduka who was pleased by the development said: 'Today marks another great day in the history of Ford in Nigeria as we declare open our all-new ultra-modern Coscharis Motors' Ford Showroom and Workshop'.He added: 'We are not only celebrating our successful past as a company, but more importantly, we are looking into the future.'He said the outlet, which is close to majority of its customers is structuredto ensure faster and efficient service delivery.According to him, the new Lekki outlet is equipped with 38 car lifts of various types; two wash bays, one state-of-the-art spray booth and 26 toolboxes.'Our conviction is that now is the time to position the Ford brand in its rightful leadership place. Our ambition is to remain the auto market leader in Nigeria', Maduka said.Speaking on the impressive performance f the Ford brand since it got the dealership, he said Coscharis sales of the Ford vehicle have risen by 2000 per cent in eleven years.He also said the company's determination to take the brand to an enviable position in the country was on course.Maduka recalled that when the company started selling Ford vehicles in 2001, it was barely doing 100 units in the first year, adding that the sales figure rose to 200 units the following year.He expressed the desire to take the brand to greater heights by paying due attention to after-sale service and other customers' satisfaction programmes.Specifically, he said the company has resolved to create about 100 quick part centres across the country in the next one year, adding that plans were in place to build more service centres across the country.In his submission, Ford's Director, in charge of Export Operations and Global Growth, Mr. Hal Feder, explained that the company was pleased by the development, adding that plans are underway to invest $60million in facility development.Besides, he said Nigeria was strategic to Ford's expansion plans within the Sub Saharan Africa market, adding that the company anticipates about 20 per cent growth within the region in the next decade.Feder who was accompanied, by the company's General Manager in charge of export operations and global growth initiatives for the Middle East and Sub Saharan Africa markets, Michael .J. Crowley said plans were in top gear to launch more than 10 new products and powertrains within the region by mid- decade.
