Prof Ango Abdullahi, an outstanding academic, researcher, agriculturist and former Vice Chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria between 1979 and 1986, also served as Special Adviser on Food Security to President Olusegun Obasanjo between 1999 and 2003. Abdullahi, who will be 74 in December, was barely 22 years old and was warming up for admission into the only Nigerian university in Nigeria at the time the Union Jack was lowered and the Nigerian flag hoisted in 1960.
