IT was excitement over the weekend, as members of staff and management of Vitafoam Nigeria Plc took to the pitch at Agege Stadium, Lagos, in continuation of the company's 50 years anniversary celebrations.Leading the company's football outfit, known as Cup Heroes, in the novelty game against AIT Ultimate Shooters was the Chairman of Vitafoam, Samuel Bolarinde, who shocked the spectators with his display of skills despite that age was not on his side.Bolarinde was able to hold the midfield, which also featured two women, including the Corporate Services Manager, Simbo Osunkoya. The encounter provided two goals, AIT Ultimate Shooters scoring first midway into the first half.Realising that a defeat would not be good for their golden anniversary celebration, the Vitafoam players raised their match, which eventually paid off late in the second stanza as a free kick from the edge of the 18-yard box beat the Ultimate Shooters goalie.The goal was well celebrated by the company's members of staff and management as well as their fans, who entertained the audience with drums and music. At the end of the game, Bolarinde joked: 'We came here with the aim of beating AIT Ultimate Shooters, but you are lucky to escape defeat.'And as a social responsibility deal to the people, the company donated gift items to five charity organizations - Ile Amu School for Handicapped Children, Lagos University Teaching Hospital, Atudaolu Home for Less Privileged, Corrective Home for Girls and the Corrective Home for Boys.The AIT Ultimate Shooters team equally got 22 pieces of camp-bed Vitafoam. According to an official, the company was incorporated on August 4, 1962 and was listed on the Nigerian Stock Exchange in 1978. It has recorded outstanding performance over the years, leading to the award of many national honours.
