Hungary to hold referendum on mandatory EU migrant quotas on October 2

BUDAPEST (Reuters) - Hungary's president said on Tuesday that a referendum will be held on Oct. 2 on whether to accept or reject mandatory quotas from the European Union on relocating migrants in member states without their parliament's approval.President Janes Ader said in a statement posted on his office's website that the referendum will be about the following question: "Do you want the European Union to be entitled to prescribe the mandatory settlement of non-Hungarian citizens in Hungary without the consent of parliament'"(Reporting by Marton Dunai and Sandor Peto; Editing by Louise Ireland)Join the conversation about this story
