Nothing Will Stop PDP ConventionWike

Rivers state Governor, Chief Ezebunwo Nyesom Wike has declared that there is no court order stopping the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) national convention scheduled to hold in Port Harcourt on August 17, 2016.He said that the partys convention will hold as scheduled because the court is yet to hear the suit filed by sacked chairman of the PDP, Sen. Ali Modu Sheriff challenging the holding of the national convention.Wike spoke yesterday when members of the executive committee of the PDP in the South geopolitical zone paid him a courtesy call at Government House, Port Harcourt.The governor said, The court could not have sacked Sen. Ahmed Makarfi because it cannot sit on appeal on the judgment of a court of coordinate jurisdiction.He stated that there is an application to allow the chairman, interim national committee of the PDP, Sen. Ahmed Markafi, to be joined as a party in the suit, adding that the suit was adjoined to August 15, 2016.While emphasising that the suit challenging the conduct of the partys national convention is yet to be entertained by the court, Wike stated that the Edo state chapter of the PDP will be supported to win the states governorship election.The governor said, PDP in the South-South cannot be complete until we take over Edo state. Therefore, I urge INEC to conduct free and fair elections in Edo state and every other state where we have elections.I thank the party in Edo state for doing quite well in their campaigns. As an opposition party, they have promoted the partys chances through committed campaigns.On the forthcoming national convention, he stated that the leaders of the PDP in the Southern geo-political zones will meet on Thursday, August 4, to determine the zoning of positions.The governor further said that the PDP will emerge stronger from the current challenges as Nigerians are waiting for the party to provide leadership.In his remarks, the PDP national vice chairman ( South-South), Bro Emma Ogidi, who commended Wike for using the peoples mandate to transform Rivers state, described the governor as a complete party man, who has helped in rebuilding the party through his engagements with party stakeholders across the country.
