Sultan Urges Muslims To Look Out For Zulkiida Moon

The Sultan of Sokoto and President General, Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) Saad Abubakar 111, yesterday admonished Nigerians to look out for the moon of Zulkiida from Wednesday, August 3, 2016.The new moon of Zulkiida according to the religious cum traditional leader is equivalent to 29th Shawwal 1437AH.A statement signed and issued to newsmen by chairman of the Advisory Committee on Religious Affairs of the Sultanate Council, Prof. Sambo Junaidu mainatined that Wednesday, August 3rd 2016 would be equivalent to 29th Shawwal 1437AH.The statement reads in part, This is to inform the Muslim Ummah that Wednesday, 3rd August, 2016, which is equivalent to 29th day of Shawwal 1437AH shall be the day to look for the new moon of Zulkiida 1437AH.Muslims are therefore requested to start looking for the new moon of Zulkiida 1437AH on Wednesday and report its sighting to the nearest District or Village Head for onward communication to His Eminence.Alhaji Muhammad Saad Abubakar, the Sultan of Sokoto, the statement noted.
