Continue for updates.Jones Attracting Interest With Preseason On HorizonTuesday, Aug. 2Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported Tuesday that Jones is visiting the San Diego Chargers, as the team is looking for depth at the position after Stevie Johnson suffereda knee injury.Jones put together a solid season with the Green Bay Packers in 2015. The San Jose State product made 50 grabs for 890 yards and eight touchdowns in his return to the franchise where he spent the first seven years of his career before a one-year pit stop with the Oakland Raiders.Just like he helped bolster the Packers' receiving corps after losing Jordy Nelson to an ACL injury during the preseason last year, he could do the same for the Chargers.Marty Caswellof the Mighty 1090 Sports Radio reported Johnson expects to have surgery on his meniscus, but a timeline for his return is unclear.Meanwhile,Josh Alperof Pro Football Talk passed along comments Jones made during a June appearance onSirius XM NFL Radioabout trying to find a football home:I got me a Super Bowl ring. I'd love to get another one. But my ultimate goal is to play 12 years. And I just want to get out there and play football. It doesn't matter who it's for. I just want to play. If it is a chance where I can get to a team that they're a contender or we have a chance to win the Super Bowl, that's awesome, too. Everybody thinks they're going win the Super Bowl right now. I'm just trying to get somewhere to play.The Chargers aren't a top Super Bowl contender, checking in at 55-1, according toOdds Shark. However,signing in San Diego would move him another step closer to that 12-year goal. This would mark his 10th season in the NFL.It could also give him a chance to carve out a meaningful role in the offense. The Chargers have limited options behind Keenan Allen and Travis Benjamin, so he'd likely slide right into the No. 3 spot Johnson was expected to assume before the injury setback.Jones is not the most dynamic or explosive wideout. But he's proven his reliability both with the Packers and during his short stint with the Raiders, when he made a career-high 73 catches. It'd make him a nice addition for the Chargers at this stage of the process.
