Forgery: Police Parade Fake WAEC Syndicate

Police in Akwa Ibom have arrresed two suspects who specialised in forging West African Examination Certificate .Parading Victor Joe, 30 years and Nsikak Atte, 27 years from Urue OffongUruko and Okobo council areas respectively, the state police public relations officer, Cornelia Nwawe, said they were rounded up, following intelligent reports.Displaying the May/June and December/November 2015 African West Examination Council fake certificate, printed by the suspect Victor, the PPRO explained that, the victim was caught while presenting the certificate for employment.It would be recalled that, in Akwa Ibom State, the government had to place embargo on employment exercise conducted by the immediate past government of Godswill Akpabio because it was found out that most of the employment letters given out were forged and are fake.Confirming his involvement in the issuing the fake appointment letter, Nsikak Atte said, he ventured into such mess because of the hard times.I am here because of forgery, the economic circumstances in the country drive me into this mess, the hardship in the country, how to meet your daily needs; like taking care of your siblings paying of school fees for them and so on, he said..Nsikak, who alleged he gave the said fake appointment letters to only two persons which attracted N130,000 and N90,000 respectively, added that, the money helped him to take care of his mother sickness and his uncle burial.I did it to get fund for the burial of my uncle and to pay for my siblings school fees, I lead that justice be tampered with mercy; I am a graduate of Business Administration. I am pleading for restitution because the police have investigated and saw that I used this money for the purpose I have mentioned, he added..For his part, Victor Joe who alleged that he collected only N3,000 for the deal, said he was approached by his friend to assist him half the May/June certificate.I am a computer operator at Vico Computers, 110 Oron road, in Oron LGA, I was in my place of work this man came to ask me to assist him, this is the first time and the only person I have oriented certificate for.He pleaded for leniency as he cannot explain what led him into doing such crime. Advising residents of the state, the PPRO called on job seekers and students to always avoid short cuts in getting what they want.She admonished those looking for job to use the correct channel of doing so as the command would not relent in arresting those found patronizing fraudsters in order to get things done through the wrong channels.The PPRO called on the people of the state to continue in the way and manner they are cooperating with the command in volunteering information, as is only through such ways that the force would succeed ridding the state of criminals and fraudsters.
