One Chance: Abuja Drivers Set To Unveil Members Data Base

Published by Leadership on Tue, 02 Aug 2016

Worried by the negative activities of unpainted taxis (Kabu Kabu) in the federal capital territory (FCT), the registered commercial drivers in the city, under the aegis of Painted Abuja Taxis (PAT) are set to launch a database of its members.LEADERSHIP gathered that the database, which is the first of its kind in Nigeria, is expected to contain the pictures, names, taxi number and other information on each of the over 9,215 registered commercial drivers operating in the territory.Speaking to LEADERSHIP yesterday, ahead of the unveiling of the project, chairman of PAT, Comrade Shehu Shugaba Yaradua explained that the idea for the database for registered commercial taxi drivers in FCT was borne out of the need to instill public confidence in the operations of its members.Yaradua noted that the database would reduce cases of fraudsters, one chance as well as bring to an end all kinds of illegalities among taxi operators in the city, just as it would also give confidence to hotel owners, estate operators and the ministries.According to YarAdua, With the launch of our database, you can even stay in your house or in your office, as the case may be, and click to our website and then view the profiles of our drivers and pick any driver you want to work with, and if you have any problem with any of our drivers, you can come to our office for assistance, he said.He therefore appealed to hotel operators, estate managers and the federal ministries in the FCT to allow registered taxi operators into their premises, while calling on all security agencies to fast rack the clamp down on unpainted taxi (Kabu Kabu) operators in the city.
