Robbery: Robbers, Thugs Threaten Land Developers In Delta

Landlords, including property developers, in Issele- Azagba, Okpanam communities, Oshimili North local government area of Delta State, are currently living in fears of the unknown over alleged murder of one person in the past few weeks in cold blood by suspected armed robbers including land speculators operating in the areas.While the landlords and developers have raised the alarm through their lawyer, they said that the situation might portend bad omen if urgent steps are not taken to foil the sinister motives of the suspected armed robbers and thugs.In petition letter dated July 20, 2016, addressed to the state commissioner of police, Mr. Ibrahim Zanna, by the communities lawyer, Barr. Afam Nkemnachor, a copy made available to our reporter, titled: armed robbery, malicious damage and conduct likely to cause breach of peace described the present nefarious activities of the hoodlums in the communities as pathetic, and urged the police to take steps with a view to bringing them to book.A victim in the recent attack, Adinnu Obiora Johnbosco who claimed to have been attacked by the hoodlums, said that he bought a land from Akpoma Quarters, Isele Azagba Community where he and some of his workers were allegedly attacked by the suspected hoodlums numbering eight persons, armed with guns, cutlasses and other dangerous weapons. But the police commissioner, Ibrahim Zanna on a telephone chat confirmed that three persons before the incidence were allegedly murdered in a land dispute, adding that the police at present have arrested and detained six persons likely to be charged to court upon completion of investigation.Investigation revealed that hoodlums have allegedly lay siege on lands within Issele Azagba and Okpanam communities not developed and have reportedly injured several unsuspecting persons including robbing them of their belongings .Speaking further, the police boss in the state said we have observed that the perpetrators, many of whom are within both communities, but we are determined to flush them out and bring the hoodlums to book.
