Edo APC Governorship Candidate To Introduce E-Governance, Block Leakages

Published by Leadership on Mon, 15 Aug 2016

Mr Godwin Obaseki, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Sept. 10 governorship elections in Edo, says he will introduce e-governance to block areas of waste in running the administration.Obaseki made the commitment in Benin on Monday in an interactive session with voters on the social media.According to him, e-governance will simplify the procedures and processes of government, make the system faster, more transparent and enable the people contribute to governance. The APC governorship candidate also promised to make Edo the hub of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in the country. He said that this would translate into more revenue for government and massive employment to the youths. The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the candidate used the event to respond to issues raised by voters via Facebook, twitter, and other social media platforms. The issues were mostly on his plans to tackle challenges in the education sector, employment and tourism among others. On tourism, Obaseki said he would build on the foundation laid by the incumbent administration of Gov. Adams Oshiomhole to take the sector to the next level. All that is needed is to step up what was already started and then draw out a blueprint that will best serve the purpose of making the state a tourist attraction.Obaseki also said that his administration would place priority to education, to open up the minds of the young ones for productive engagement. The APC governorship candidate appealed to voters not to elect those who would retard the present state of development in Edo.This election is important to me and the APC, to avoid a disconnect of what the present administration has done this past seven and half years. Not getting it right with policies has always been the problem of the state, once you get the policy right, every other thing will fall into place, he stated.
