Adele says she won't perform at Super Bowl halftime show because she can't dance

Published by Business Insider on Mon, 15 Aug 2016

We could have had it all. There were rumors that Adele was rumored to headline the next Super Bowl halftime show, but the "25" singer set fire to those hopes at aLos Angelesconcert on Saturday night when she said that she wouldn't take the gig."Come, on," she said when a fan asked her about the possibility. "That show is not about music, and I dont dance or anything like that. They were really kind, they did ask me, but I did say no.""I know Im not Beyonc," she continued. "I cant dance or anything like that."Beyonc slayed at last year's halftime show when she upstaged Coldplay and Bruno Mars with the live debut of "Formation," which she had only dropped a few days earlier. It's an understandably hard act to follow, especially for Adele, whose music is beautiful but doesn't necessarily have the energy and spectacle the show demands. For what it's worth, the NFL and Pepsi, who sponsors the halftime show, denied ever asking Adele to perform."The NFL and Pepsi are big fans of Adele," the organizationssaid in a joint statement released on Sunday, according to Billboard. "We have had conversations with several artists about the Pepsi Super Bowl Halftime Show. However, we have not at this point extended a formal offer to Adele or anyone else. We are focused on putting together a fantastic show for Houston and we look forward to revealing that in good time."Super Bowl LI will take place in Houston on February 5, 2017.Join the conversation about this storyNOW WATCH: Adele had the perfect response after a sound glitch at the Grammys
