Olympic 2016 Results: Monday's Live Updating Medal Count and Standings

After the drama and excitement of the weekend, Monday will have a lot to live up to at the 2016 Rio Olympics.A successful two days for Great Britain saw them continue their climb up the medal table as they brought in eight golds, seven silvers and a bronze.Here is the live table:On Monday, some of the highlights will include themen's 800-metre final and women's 400-metre final, the conclusion of themen's omnium and three more golds up for grabs in the gymnastics.2008 Olympic champion Christine Ohuruogu will not be competing in the 400-metres after failing to qualify from her semi-final. The Briton, who won gold in Beijing and silver in London, came fifth in the first semi.The fastest qualifiers were the USA's Allyson Felix and Natasha Hastings,Jamaica's Shericka Jackson and the Bahama's Shaunae Miller,who all completed their semi-final lap in under 50 seconds.Reigning world champion Felix could be on the verge of making history as she pursues a record seventh Olympic medal in athleticsa tally no American woman can matchper NBC Olympics:ESPN's Mark Jones was impressed with her semi-final performance:Indeed, Felix threw down the gauntlet to her competitorsit will take a monumental performance to topher on Monday.Meanwhile, the men's 800-metres is shaping up to be a thrilling, close-run race.France'sPierre-Ambroise Bosse andTaoufik Makhloufi of Algeria tied their semi-final with an impressive time of one minute, 43.85 seconds, while world and Olympic champion David Rudisha won his, just three-hundredths of a second slower than the pair.It's fair to say the Mail on Sunday's Oliver Holt is an admirer of the Kenyan:He produced one of the most memorable moments in London as he set a world record to win gold in this event.His remarkable ability to power away from his opponents will come in handy hereBosse andMakhloufi could cause him some problems if they're able to produce strong showings once again.
