We're obsessed with this company formed by former Google employees ' they make some of the best tech accessories you can buy

Published by Business Insider on Wed, 17 Aug 2016

The Insider Picks team writes about stuff we think you'll like. Business Insider has affiliate partnerships, so we may get a share of the revenue from your purchase. As part of an ongoing series, each week Insider Picks features a product or store thats poised for big things. The subject of this week's "We're Obsessed" segment is a tech accessory maker called Anker. The tech accessory market is as dense as it is big. It's a cluttered space, where thousands of similar-looking productsin a handful of useful product categories are trying to get your attention. In that kind of environment, it's hard to get noticed, but Anker caught my eye and has kept me as a customer since I started using their products in 2014.Anker specializes on making low-cost products in what I call the "essential tech accessories" market.Formed in 2009 by former Google employees, Anker claims their vision is to "create a world where mobile truly means mobile. A world where nothing holds you back from where you want to go, or what you want to do." This explains their heavy coverage of cables, USB batteries, and portable Bluetooth speakers. The way Anker separates themselves from the pack is by focusing on quality and customer support, both of which I've experienced firsthand. Their packaging is good enough to be considered Apple-like, and each time I buy one of their products I'm reminded of the attention to detail. I've never received an Anker product that has been in anything less than perfect condition. But, sometimes things break. Hey, it happens. I'll admit that if I spent under $10 on an item and it broke after a few months, I probably wouldn't bother trying to get it replaced. I'd think twice before buying another product from that company, and wouldn't recommend that product or company to my friends and family, but it's not a huge loss. But Anker goes out of their way to tout their 18-month warranty on all of their product's pages. So, when one of my keyboards stopped working after only ninemonths, I sent an e-mail to their customer support system. My e-mail was sent on a Friday, and I received a response the following Monday. Then, I went on a trip for a week and only got around to sending a follow up e-mail a week later. The same support representative responded promptly, and, because the keyboard I bought wasn't being sold anymore, I received a no-questions-asked refund. I wasn't asked to send the keyboard back for inspection. The only information I needed to provide was my Amazon order number, the product's serial number, and my home address (presumably to send me a new unit if possible.) My refund was processed quickly and I spent that money on, unsurprisingly, a new Anker keyboard.Having pride in the presentation and durability of their products makes Anker easy enough to recommend, but their excellent customer service pushes them over the edge. In a space where many companies like to remain virtually nameless, faceless, and not responsible, Anker's approach is a breath of fresh air. While I've highlighted some of the products that I've used or think are most useful, I can vouch for the overall quality of all Anker products; they haven't let me down yet.SEE ALSO:50 must-have tech accessories under $50DON'T MISS:I've written about a bunch of great smart-home tech, but these are the gadgets I use every day ' here's whyQuick Charge 2.0 Dual USB Car ChargerI only use one device in the car, but if I decide to add another, or be really nice to whoeverisriding shotgun, I'll pick one of these up.
