A trio of Americans swept the women's 100-meter hurdles on Wednesday at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. Brianna Rollins won the gold, Nia Ali won the silver and Kristi Castlin secured the bronze.In the sprints, Jamaica continued its dominance at these Games, as Elaine Thompson won gold in the women's 200-meter dash.Thompson's win comes on the heels of her gold-medal run in the 100-meter dash earlier this week. Her countryman, Usain Bolt, is favored to pull off the same double on the men's side.Plenty of other medals were handed out Wednesday as well. American Evan Jager ended a drought in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, Tianna Bartoletta won the long jump and wrestling wrapped up in several different weight classes.To stay up to speed on the medal count in Rio, keep an eye on the live updates in the tracker below.A Sweep in the HurdlesAmerica's women pulled off the improbable podium sweep, as Castlin edged out fourth-place Cindy Ofili of Great Britain by just two hundredths of a second.NBC Olympics tweeted a picture of the trio celebrating after the race:It was the first time in Olympic history that any nation was able to sweep the podium in this event, according to Philip Hersh:Bronze for an Olympic LegendOver on the beach, the legendary Kerri Walsh Jennings won the bronze with her teammate April Ross. They beat the top seed in this tournament, Brazil's Larissa Franca and Talita Antunes.Afterward, Walsh Jennings described the grueling match, per the Olympic News Service:And NBC Olympics shared a picture of the celebrating women:Walsh Jennings hasn't definitively said whether she'll be back for the games in Tokyo in 2020. If she isn't, this is a good way to go out.Ending a DroughtThe last time an American medaled in the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase was in 1984, when Brian Diemer secured the bronze.Since then, Kenya has had a stranglehold on the event. And while it secured gold and bronze, it wasn't able to pull off its third podium sweep. Jager had other ideas.After passing all but gold medalist Conseslus Kipruto in the waning moments of the race, Jager secured the silver and crashed the podium.
