Tom Brady Injury: Updates on Patriots QB's Thumb and Return

The NFLsuspendedhim for the first four games of the regular season because of his role in the Deflategate scandal, which means his season debut wont come until Oct. 9 against the Cleveland Browns, at the earliest.Still, any injury to someone as valuable as Brady is reason for concern. Brady is one of the best quarterbacks in the history of the sport, and he has four Super Bowl rings, 11 Pro Bowl appearances, two Associated Press MVP awards and three Super Bowl MVPs to prove it.He may be 39 years old, but he has shown no signs of slowing down after topping 4,000 passing yards in six of the last seven years. He threw for 4,770 yards and 36 touchdowns last season and has 58,028 passing yards and 428 touchdown tosses in his illustrious career.Assuming the cut doesnt linger into mid-October, this just means additional preseason reps for Jimmy Garoppolo. Garoppolo, who will be trusted with the New England offense while Brady is suspended, could use the additional game action, since he has only 31 passing attempts in his NFL career.
