Toyin Aimakhu keeps mum on Mayowa Ahmed's death

Published by Kemi Filani on Mon, 22 Aug 2016

July 28, 2016will go down as a memorable day for Nigerians on the Internet. It was the day actress, Toyin Aimakhu cried foul, alleging that the #SaveMayowa cause was all a con planned by the family members of the reason behind the movement ' Mayowa Ahmed ' a 31 year old stage IV cancer patient who allegedly needed $100,000 for urgent treatment abroad. The Nollywood actress raised hell at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LUTH), promising to get to the bottom of things as she had been a major part of the campaign to raise funds for Mayowa who she described as her 'fan. She felt distressed and displeased with the opinion that she had been used as an accessory in defrauding Nigerians of their hard-earned money. After her remarks at the premises of LUTH went viral, Toyin decided to withdraw herself from the whole controversy, making no mention of the cause even till today after Mayowa was reported to have passed on to the great beyond and Nigerians flooded their timelines with #RIPMayowa messages. Since the news of Mayowa's demise hit the internet, Aimakhu has stayed away from social media. Her last Instagram post was 9 hours ago. Her Twitter account has been dormant since November 2015. Calls to the actress have not been returned. Whatever happens though, she played a huge role in getting Nigerians involved in #SaveMayowa and she will be forever remembered for standing up when it counted.
