Liverpool Transfer News: Latest Leandro Paredes and Bruno Martins Indi Rumours

Published by Bleacher Report on Mon, 22 Aug 2016

Liverpool have reportedly hit an impasse in their pursuit of Leandro Paredes after a Milan figurehead informed the Premier League club AS Roma aren't looking to sell their star. Elsewhere, the Reds are said to be chasing Porto defender Bruno Martins Indi.Italian outlet Mediaset Premiumprovided quotes fromMilan chief executive Adriano Galliani, who failed in his attempt to recruit Paredes, as well as Real Madrid midfielder Mateo Kovacic (via Daily Star,h/t Joe Short of theDaily Express):I can confirm that I asked Roma for Paredes a month ago, but I was told he is not for sale. The coach put a stop to any discussion.Kovacic will not be released either, (Real Madrid president) Florentino Perez told me so.We are looking for an understudy to Riccardo Montolivo, that is what we must find while respecting the budget we have.Short added the Reds value Paredes at around 18 million, although manager Jurgen Klopp may find the Giallorossi to be tough negotiators as he nears the close of the summer transfer window. What's more, Roma coach Luciano Spalletti reached out to the media personally in a bid to put suitors off bidding for Paredes in the next week-and-a-half, per Di Marzio translator David Amoyal:The 22-year-old is back at the Stadio Olimpico after spending the 2015-16 season on loan with Empoli, during which he made 33 Serie A appearances for the club as they finished 10th in the league table.Having impressed during his temporary spell away from Roma, Bleacher Report's Adam Digby highlighted the Argentinian as a potentially great first-team asset for the capital club:Liverpool have already sold Joe Allen to Stoke City this summer, although the arrival of Serbian Marko Grujic may have offset their desire to add more options in deep-lying midfield. That being said, the Merseysiders have cash to spend after Christian Benteke moved to Crystal Palace last week for 27 million, per BBC Sport, meaning a busy week of transfer activity could lie ahead at Anfield.Elsewhere, Turkish magazineFanatik has leaked information regarding Liverpool's interest in Porto defender Martins Indi, for whom the Reds reportedly offered 5 million (4.3 million) earlier this summer (h/t Sport Witness). The report went on to detail Porto are seeking closer to 7 million (6 million) for their centre-back, andMetroPortuguese football expert Jan Hagen recently stated the Dutchman will leave the club this summer:Martins Indi impressed for the Netherlands at the 2014 World Cup, gaining notoriety for his ability to function in central defence as well as at left-back under then-manager Louis van Gaal.Doubts in Alberto Moreno's status as Liverpool's starting left-back mean Martins Indi, 24, could be a welcome asset at Anfield, while his modest price tag may provide the Reds with a valuable opportunity.Read more World Football news on BleacherReport.com
