Abacuss Ally In Alleged Rent Scam

Published by Leadership on Mon, 22 Aug 2016

Publisher of Conscience magazine and political associate of late Head of State, Gen. Sani Abacha, Chief Abiola Ogundokun may be embroiled in a battle with an Abuja property owner over Ogundokuns failure to pay N1.5 million office rent for a property in Garki, Abuja.Chief Curtis Odekpe the owner of the property located at number 28 Samuel Ladoke Akintola Boulevard Garki II Abuja and occupied by Chief Ogundokun claimed on Monday at a press briefing in Abuja that the rent for the property expired since November 2015, but instead of renewing his rent, the tenant has deliberately refused to pay, using names of some highly placed police officers to threaten him.The landlord stated that the office accommodation was rented to him on 7th of November 2014. It is now one year plus and he has defaulted in renewing his rent or to pack out.The landlord in a petition to the Police Divisional Police Officer of Garki, dated 28th July, 2016, titled Petition on Threat to My Life, narrated his alleged ordeal with Chief Ogundokun. In a press statement, he also pleaded with the Police to intervene by ordering his men to invite Chief Ogundokun for questioning or compel him to pay the rent or leave the property. In a response from the DPO, CSP Nendel J. Gomwalk to Odekpes letter dated 17th August, 2016, the Police adviced the landlord to seek redress in court.I refer to your letter dated 28th July 2016 on the above subject matter and advice that you seek redress in a court of law to forestall any breach of peace, please, the police DPO stated.Recall that Chief Ogundokun was one of the leading magazine publishers under the Abacha regime. It is believed that his publication actively promoted the self-succession bid of the Late Abacha.
