Samsung's next flip phone may pack some killer hardware

Published by Business Insider on Tue, 23 Aug 2016

Last year Samsung impressed us with its Android-powered W2016 clamshell smartphone, packing flagship level specs into a flip phone design. Now it looks like the company could do the same thing again with the upcoming W2017.The device was recently spotted on benchmarking site Geekbench with some powerful hardware onboard. The new flip phone, allegedly codenamed Veyron, appears to pack a Snapdragon 820 processor, 4GB of RAM and Android 6.0.1 software. That could put it in line with the companys flagship smartphones, though we still dont know much about the display or cameras on the upcoming clamshell.Samsung unveiled the W2016 last November, so it could be a few more months before we get an official look at this follow-up device. Last years flip phone also launched as a China Mobile exclusive, and its expected to do the same this year. We definitely wouldnt mind getting our hands on the powerful flip phone if it did arrive in the U.S., though wed probably still prefer the Galaxy Note 7 at the end of the day.SEE ALSO:Here's why HDR, not 4K, is the most important upgrade for your next TVJoin the conversation about this storyNOW WATCH: Here's what happens when you order something on Amazon Prime Now
