The posting lists Birmingham, Manchester, and Leeds as potential cities for UberEATS expansion. In addition, Uber has a position listed as Courier Operations Manager to aid in bringing the platform to other UK cities.Ubers website also lists job postings for UberEATS in many European cities, where the service has yet to launch. The website lists vacancies for positions located in several major European capitals, including Berlin, Vienna, Rome, and Amsterdam. UberEATS currently operates in 18 cities around the globe.Uber faces tough competition in the food delivery industry in the UK and Europe. UberEATS main competitor in the context of international expansion is UK-based Deliveroo, which currently operates in 84 cities worldwide, and recently raised $275 million in additional funding. Also, Amazons service Amazon Restaurants has been rumored to be entering London. However, Uber will be able to leverage its extensive mapping system, as well as the knowledge of its existing drivers, which should help it earn an advantage over its competition. While no timetable has been given for UberEATS expansion across Europe, expect for it to happen sooner rather than later, as the market begins to intensify. To receive stories like this one directly to your inbox every morning, sign up for the E-Commerce Briefing newsletter.Click here to learn more about how you can gain risk-free access today.Join the conversation about this story
