Wide receiver Mike Williams hasnt played an NFL game since the 2014 season, and he will need to find a new team following Wednesdays news if he plans on seeing the field in 2016.The Kansas City Chiefs releasedWilliams and safety Stevie Brown on Wednesday as the 2016 campaign approaches.Williams entered the league as a fourth-round pick out of Syracusein 2010 and played his first four seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He was a consistent force in his first three campaigns and tallied double-digit touchdowns (11) as a rookie. He just missed 1,000 receiving yards in 2012:However, he played in only six games in 2013 and was mostly a nonfactor for the Buffalo Bills in 2014 in nine contests with 142 receiving yards on eight catches. Tyler Dragon of NFL.com noted the NFL suspended Williams three games in 2015 before he sat out the entire season.The future looked bright for Williams when he signed a six-year, $40.25 million extension with Tampa Bay in 2013, per Dragon, but the team traded him to the Bills, who eventually released him.While this is another setback for Williams, he is just 29 years old and not far removed from being an impact receiver in the league. He is also 6'2" and could theoretically serve as a red-zone threat as someone who could high-point passes in the corner of the end zone.Still, the Chiefs finished 27th in the league in passing offense last season and didn't have room for him on a roster without many proven playmakers at the wide receiver position outside of Jeremy Maclin.
