Ekiti PDP Picks Hole In EFCC Investigation On Governor

Published by Leadership on Thu, 25 Aug 2016

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State has slammed Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over what it described as incoherent investigation of the State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose. The party noted that the manner with which the anti-graft agency is handling its investigation showed that it was out to harass and persecute the governor with the intention of silencing the opposition in the country. It challenged the EFCC to explain to Nigerians, why its investigation has been shrowded in confusion which has led to the seizure of other persons properties while claiming they belong to Fayose. In a statement by its State Publicity Secretary, Mr Jackson Adebayo, in Ado-Ekiti yesterday, the party wondered why the EFCC suddenly turned from the initial claim of investigating the source of funds for the governors election to the pursue of contracts awarded in Ekiti State in accordance with the laid down rules. PDP asked the agency to explain to the world the correlation between looking into a N1.2 billion purportedly transfered to the governor for his election in 2014 and seizing his property valued at N1.3 billion or how the questioning of a Federal Government-monitored projects of MDG only in Ekiti State became part of 2014 election problem. He maintained that the agency was only out to persecute Fayose for daring to be pointing out the wrong and deficient governance that has characterised the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari since inception, adding that the governments intolerance for opposition had given the country a bad image among the comity of nations.According to the PDP spokesman, the EFCC has proven that it does not have any evidence to cage the governor hence it has resorted to manufacturing lies and junks in its purported investigation. They would seize one property today and tomorrow the real owner will surface. They will mention one amount today and tomorrow it will be another figure again. They will probe election fund source today when they meet brick wall they will shift to MDG contract or any other suggestions from the APC; all just in a desperate mission to silence Fayose.
