Published by Leadership on Fri, 26 Aug 2016

Kogi State government has donated 104 vans to law enforcement agencies as part of efforts to combat kidnapping, robbery and other social vices in the state.Agencies to benefit from the donation are the Nigeria Army, Police Force, Nigeria Civil Defence and Security Corps (NCDSC), the Vigilantes and State Security Service (SSS).Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Strategy, Mallam Abdulmalik Abdulkareem stated this yesterday at a press conference to herald the 25th Anniversary of the creation of the state. He also said that the government has procured 1000 motorcycles to be distributed to the security agencies and vigilantees to fight criminal activities in the state. The media aide also declared that no single political appointee would be paid salaries and allowance until the state civil servants are paid adding that government was desirous of attending to the welfare of civil servants whom according to him have suffered non-payment of salaries before the coming of the present administration. The special adviser who described the forthcoming silver jubilee as spectacular, pointed out that it coincides with the much-needed positive change in the state, noting that the emergence of Alhaji Yahaya Bello was divinely arranged to change the fortune of the state for the better.According to him, This silver jubilee celebration is spectacular in the sense that it coincides with the time that the much-needed change in the state has just come to being under the leadership of Governor Yahaya Bello. He said, The New Direction Agenda of the state is anchored on equity, justice and fairness. Since, the inception of this administration, there is no doubt that the governor has been doing everything humanly possible to ensure that every part of the state is adequately taken care of in his government. He pointed out that there is a sharp departure from the erstwhile arrangements where some key positions are exclusive rights of some sections of the state, saying the governor in his detribalised philosophy, picked his appointees across all the sections in order to foster sense of belonging and unity in the affairs of the state.
