Manchester United Transfer News: Fabinho Price Reportedly Set, Latest Rumours

Published by Bleacher Report on Fri, 26 Aug 2016

Manchester United will reportedly have to pay 25 million for Monaco right-back Fabinho.According to the Sun's Daniel Cutts, the Brazilian has been a target for the Red Devils throughout the transfer window. United are "poised to make a late swoop" and have now been told how much he will cost to sign. The 22-year-old has been one of the standout players in Ligue 1 in recent years thanks to his excellent play up and down the right flank.Going forward, Fabinho marauds up field with pace and creativity, andhe registered five assists last season. Further, as OptaJean revealed, he is an expert penalty-taker:Fabinho's speed is equally useful when tracking back, and he's strong defensively, too. The Brazilian is alsoan outstanding ball-winner who uses his intelligence to judge when to move up and when to hang back.Squawka Football shared some of his defensive numbers from last season:Should United pursue him, Sky Sports' Tom McDermott believes the club would face a dilemma given Antonio Valencia's resurgence in form:Indeed, the Colombian has looked revitalised this season and seems to be displaying the kind of form he showed under Sir Alex Ferguson.Meanwhile, Timothy Fosu-Mensah remains an option, and Matteo Darmian, while he had a mixed first season at the club, could still settle at Old Trafford.Fabinho is an excellent player, thoughbetter defensively than Valencia and better going forward than Darmianand there's still room for him to improve at 22. While for now the right-back position isn't in desperate need of addressing, it's unlikely the club would regret signing him even at the reported price.Meanwhile, according to the Guardian's Paul Doyle, La Liga outfit Valencia could be set to offer United "good money" to sign Marcos Rojo. The Argentinian has struggled during his two years at United and shown little sign of improvement or that he could be asset to the team going forward.Football writer Nooruddean Choudry welcomed the prospect of selling him to Valencia:Indeed, there's little sense in keeping the defender at Old Trafford for another seasonif the Red Devils have the opportunity to move him on this summer, they should take it.Getting him off the books and allowing him the chance to kickstart his career elsewhere would appear the best solution for all parties.
