Made in Denmark 2016: Friday Leaderboard Scores and Highlights

Published by Bleacher Report on Fri, 26 Aug 2016

Welshman Bradley Dredge tops the Made in Denmark 2016 leaderboard after shooting a 66 on Day 2. Dredge finished three shots ahead of Swede Joakim Lagergren after an excellent round of golf on Friday.Lagergren went one-under par and stayed ahead of Belgian Thomas Pieters, who finished on par for the day after three bogeys on the front-nine.Day 1 leader Tom Lewis shot a 72 to finish one-over par on the day and take a tumble on the leaderboard. Here's what the leaderboard looks like after Day 2:All scorecard information via the European Tour official site.RecapDredge had enjoyed a strong finish on the first day, completing his round with a run of five consecutive birdies on the back-nine. He made a strong start to the front-nine on Day 2, hitting a birdie on the par-three second, before sinking a pair of birdies at the fifth and sixth holes. Some steady golf saw him hit par over the first three holes over the back-nine. There was frustration at the par-four 13th, though, when Dredge hit a bogey. However, the Welshman recovered with another timely birdie. He closed out his day with par over each of the final four holes.Dredge has given himself an excellent chance to go one better than two years ago, per the European Tour:By contrast, three bogeys on the back-nine doomed Lewis. He came unstuck on the par-five 11 and ended his round by shooting five at the par-four 18.It was all a far cry from the previous day, when Lewis wowed the crowds with seven birdies on the back-nine. The price for today's failures was a slip from a three-way tie at the top to joint fifth.Lewis will bemoan his rough day, but he still remains in touch with the leaders:A diminished birdie count was enough to keep Lagergren away from top spot. He managed just three birdies, marking a drop in form from the nine he hit on Day 1.Pieters had a great chance to apply pressure on the top two, but his approach shot to the 18th hole landed in a bunker. He somewhat rescued things with a par-putt, but Pieters had missed a good opportunity to close the gap and finished sharing third spot with South Africa's Richard Sterne.Dredge is playing some exceptional golf, but he can expect some of the tournament's prime candidates to improve on Day 3.
