Niger Delta Youths write Saraki, Demands Open Audit Of Amnesty Office

Published by Leadership on Fri, 26 Aug 2016

Aggrieved Youths from the Nine States from the Niger Delta region have sent a petition to the Senate President, Senator Olusola Saraki asking for an open audit of the Amnesty office under the leadership of Brig. Gen. Paul Boroh (rtd). The aggrieved Youths,in the petition dated 24th of August, 2016,said though the Amnesty office has made claims of successes and achievements in the area of Youths empowerment under the amnesty programme, there is the need for a comprehensive audit of numbers of beneficiaries, contracts awards and diversions of funds to privildged 2x-militant leaders in the region. The youths in the petition, issued under the aegis of Niger Delta Youths for Change and Justice, signed by Comrade John Ogbemudia (Edo), Comrade Ughogho Uwvie (Delta) and Comrade Siasia Owei (Bayelsa) and made available to news men in Yenagoa, alleged that Amnesty office is characterised by fraud and clandestine sharing of funds meant for beneficiaries of the Amnesty programme.According to the youths, We have observed the series of claims and counter claims on the administration of Boroh at the Amnesty office and concluded that though they are either ignorant of facts or out for pure gains from the office .We also observed that many have threatened to write the EFCC over alleged corrupt practices in the Amnesty office, but lack courage. We are ready with the needed facts and figures needed by the National Assembly to probe the Office.Though the Gen. Paul Boroh may have been known to serve meritoriously in the military, his handling of the amnesty office is bedevilled with fraud. The Paul Boroh decision to spend scarce resources to known Ex-Militant leaders from Bayelsa and Delta state without accountability has rubished the Anti-corruption battle of President Mohammadu Buhari. We were shocked when the world treated with levity the allegation of rogrammme has been drawn to the sleaze in Amnesty Offices N48bn Expenditure in Five Months. We have discovered various financial moles through ghost beneficiaries. The ghost beneficiaries are hidden under the cover of guise of ex-militants tuition and in-training allowances. The fraud is carried out in connivance with three prominent ex-Militant leaders and hidden under payments to universities in the UK, United States of America,Canada, United Arab Emirates, Russia, the Philippines, Belarus and elsewhere abroad.Out of the total of 2,150 students claimed to have sent abroad. What we ask is what happened to those ghost names inherited under his predecessor, Kingsley Kuku'Why did most of the Amnesty vendors become quiet and cooperate with Boroh despite questionable contracts entered under Kingsley Kuku' Why are the three known ex-Militants suddenly close advisers to the Amnesty Chairman'. We have more facts and ready to come forward with documents and facts! The Amnesty office, under the claims of the Gen. Paul Boroh administration, have awarded contracts worth about N48 billion. They claimed that entire contracts awarded by the old and new administrations was a total N22, 055billion.It is a lie and we have the fact, the bank details, the phoney payments, the fake beneficiaries, and the names of the ex-militants involved. The aggrieved Niger Delta Youths said though they are not influenced by biase, party politics or greed, Mr. Senate President and members of the National Assembly,we are ready to come forward with our counsels to appear before the National Assembly committee. We are out to support the President, Muhammadu Buhari in his anti corruption drive.
