The Miz's Rant, Bayley's Debut and Top WWE News from Week of August 27

Published by Bleacher Report on Sat, 27 Aug 2016

Starting with NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn II, and ending with Wednesday's episode of the Cruiserweight Classic, the last week has featured over 16 hours of wrestling. We saw titles change hands, new championships introduced, a big debut, two veteransleave the companyand a few incredible matches. Let's take a look at some of the bigger stories from the past seven days.SmackDown Introduces 2 New TitlesFor the past few weeks, we have heard Daniel Bryan talking about introducing women's a tag team titles during his interviews with Renee Young on Talking Smack, and we finally got to see the new belts this past Tuesday. The tag titles look just like the ones from Raw, except the strap is blue and the plates are gold. The Women's Championship uses the same white strap as the one from Raw, but the background is blue instead of red.Bryan and Shane McMahon announced some matches to determine who would earn the right to battle for these new belts. The feedback for the designs was much more positive than what the Universal Championship received at SummerSlam, so SmackDown is already off to a good start.Backlash is coming up on September 11, so we will only have to wait a few weeks to see who becomes the first SmackDown women's and tag team champions.2 New Champions Crowned, 1 Relinquishes TitleLast weekend was a busy time for WWE, and it all started with NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn II. The main event saw Shinsuke Nakamura defeat Samoa Joe to win the NXT Championship. The charismatic Superstar from Japan had the most memorable entrance in recent memory thanks to a live violin player accompanying him to the ring. The next night, Finn Balor defeated Seth Rollins to become WWE's first universal champion. The belt's design was mocked heavily on Twitter, but Balor's win was praised by his legions of fans.Unfortunately for The Demon King, a torn labrum from a dislocated shoulder he received thanks to a powerbomb into the barricade forced him to relinquish the title the following night on Raw.According to WWE.com, Balor underwent successful surgery to repair the injury, but he is expected to miss up to six months. Hopefully WWE is willing to take another chance on him when he returns in 2017.The Miz Sets the Internet on FireWith all the title changes, new championships and debuts, who would have thought The Miz would be the guy everyone was talking about at the end of the week.Following Tuesday's episode of SmackDown, the intercontinental champion invaded the set of Talking Smack to vent his frustrations about the way Daniel Bryan has been bashing him. With the promo falling somewhere between a work and a shoot, The Miz showed more fire than he ever has before. His words cut deep into the SmackDown general manager. Bryan walked off set to keep things from getting physical between himself and his former NXT pro from the show's first season all those years ago. This is the best mic work we have seen from The Miz since he first rose through the ranks to become WWE champion, and it could lead to him finally being given a serious push as IC champion.Bayley Finally Makes Main Roster DebutCharlotte regained the Women's Championship from Sasha Banks at SummerSlam, but her celebration was cut short by the debut of Bayley. The NXT favorite is someone many believed should have been brought up with Banks, Charlotte and Becky Lynch during the initial Divas Revolution storyline, but waiting allowed her to rule the women's division in NXT until it was time for Asuka to take her place.Bayley took to Instagram to bid an emotional farewell to her friends and mentors at the Performance Center and in NXT.The Hugger has a bright future in WWE, and if she can maintain her current level of popularity, there's no telling how far she can go in this business. The Dudley Boys Leave WWEIn a move that surprised a lot of people Monday night, The Dudley Boyz bid farewell to the WWE Universe just one year after returning to the company. The iconic tag team hasn't had the best run over the past few months, and while there is a good chance they will return at some point in the future, it looks like they are actually gone.At first, it almost felt like this was part of a storyline because they were immediately attacked after they addressed the live crowd, but all signs point to Bubba Ray and D-Von being finished with WWE for now. This doesn't mean they are retiring. We will likely see them pop up at House of Hardcore and other indy events in the future.Brock Lesnar Suspended by Nevada Athletic CommissionBrock Lesnar may have beenvictorious at SummerSlam against Randy Orton, but his two failed drug tests from his UFC 200 match against Mark Hunt are still haunting him.Raj Giri of Wrestling Inc is reporting the Nevada Athletic Commission has suspended Lesnarfor testing positive for an estrogen blocker called Clomiphene. The tests clearly didn't stop WWE from booking Lesnar to look like a monster. He beat Orton to a bloody pulp and won the match by TKO, something we haven't seen since Kevin Owens defeated Sami Zayn for the NXT Championship.Orton received 10 staples as a result of his injury, but he was well enough to appear Tuesday night on SmackDown to address the crowd. The seeds for a Shane McMahon vs. Lesnar match were planted after The Beast hit him with an F-5 while he was trying to check on Orton, so we will have to wait to see if anything comes of it.What do you think' Should Lesnar's next opponent be the man running SmackDown'Thanks for reading, and follow me on Twitter @BR_Doctor.
