Something isdefinitely wrongwith this new hotel christened Jojein Hotel and Resort, located along Oba-Ile Road, Akure, Ondo State where government is creating conducive atmosphere for tourism to thrive. The ambience of peace and security which reigns in the state has been engendered by Governor Olusegun Mimiko led administration and has led to the upsurge of hotels and restaurants in different parts of the state which has hitherto provided job opportunities, mobilised wealth and created avenue for fun. Some of these hotels and restaurants are standardised and offer good services according to their capacity, scope and vision and these have endeared them to their strings of clientele. The new hotels, particularly those that were planted in the last three years have engaged each other in a healthy competition of luring visitors and buyers into their bowels through creation of good architectural concept and fascinating aesthetic. This is the unique selling point of Jojein Hotel and Resort as one cannot miss the sprawling facilities which spread like an eagle on its full ascension in the sky on acres of land on the right when heading to Oba Ile from Akure.Nay, not with the eye ' popping arrays of flood ' light and glistering ornamental touch of the building which forces one's eyes to feed on the beauty of the edifice in the night and even in the day whenever one is passing through Akure to Oba-Ile.Neither could one's eyes fail to recognise the large portion of land properly landscaped and sequestered as parking lot for buyers and patrons. These and many others help a casual buyer to assume and conclude that the beauty stops here.I was one of those who believed that Jojein Hotel might be one of those with stunning exterior, but awful services. And fate played it on me last Friday, when some friends from the AD King Foundation, Atlanta, USA led by Dr Babs Onabanjo , a Nigerian of immense influence and network in God' own country, flew into the country on an official trip to Akure, Ondo State. In fact, the circumstances of venturing into Jojein Hotel evolved out of the last option because of the cancellation of a pre-booked accommo-dation in one of the finest hotels also in Akure due to failure to arrive the city on time and a random check on other nice hotels gave a report of full occupancy. Thus, the opportunity of spending the night in Jojein Hotel and Resort crept in.Not wanting to risk my credibility and respect, and having known Dr Babs taste, I promptly informed him of my decision of patronising Jojein Hotel for the first time.We drove into the hotel with the mind'set of whatever happens we were going to bear it all. However, the attention to the brand of service being offered inside the attractive structure began from the entrance gate, where the private security officers did not only offer us, but laced it up with attracting smiles. As we were entering the reception, we were dazzled with the facilities and fittings. As the door swung opened automatically, we were ushered into a large hall which was variously demarcated with protective hall dividers. On the entrance wall, are paintings of icons like Ken Saro Wiwa, Fela Ransome Kuti and others. The reception hall is lavishly pampered with befitting, cozy and luxurious furniture while the staff on hand exhibited efficiency and promptness in attending to us.As we engaged in discussion about 'who the hell own this beautiful concept' 'on our way to our designated rooms, we never knew that we were in for a better sight of the hotel's facilities.'This is your room sir, Christened Classic,' Olufemi Bukunola said as she opened the door with the electronic key.Truly, the concept, style, quality, fittings and fixtures, beddings, accessories and the stuffs in the bathroom are all classical.Late arrival at the hotel that night was not a disservice to our bellies as we stormed the restaurant asking for food which were served according to taste and demands with precision. We all headed for our rooms after the delicious meal from the restaurant as there was no time to explore the city as we were all fagged out.Predictably, we all had a nice and cool sleep until a female voice over the phone at about 7.00 am. announced that the hotel had a buffet breakfast for all lodgers. And unlike some of the hotels in town, the breakfast at Jojein was full, rich and heavy. And because of the brand of service, facilities, customers' relations of the staff, the richness of the breakfast and the attendant assurance of having value for money, the consideration of staying another night for real consummation of the wonders of Jojein was negated by the necessity of many assignments and engagement. This was because the only thing wrong with Jojein Hotel and Resort in Akure was the fact that the management seem resolute not to negotiate excellent service for any gold dust.It is one hotel where money is worth more than its value. As we had a wonderful night experience at Jojein Hotel and Resort, Akure, you too could.
